Process resilience: with the RELOAD project, Tecres implements logistics 4.0, supply chain and sustainability
During the acute phase of the Covid-19 pandemic, the concept of resilience moved beyond the original fields of application of materials science and biology and proved a fertile, meaningful metaphor for people’s ability to actively react to the radical changes caused by the spread of the virus. It comes as no surprise that this versatility makes it an extremely useful tool to understand – and suggest – the way in which not only people, but also processes, are able to reconfigure when the way they normally function is subjected to uncertainty, change and tension of various kinds.
It is with this in mind that Tecres – as a partner of RIVELO, “Rete Innovativa VEneta per la LOgistica” (Veneto Innovative Logistics Network), an integrated system comprising companies, regional entities and the Universities of Padua and Verona for the creation of innovative projects on the themes of logistics 4.0, supply chain and sustainability – has taken part in the RELOAD project for the design of a supply chain and of resilient logistics, meaning a logistics system that brings on board solid processes and tools able to rise to the challenges posed by the difficult, unpredictable conditions of the post-pandemic years.
The RELOAD experience ran from 2021 to November 2023. In over two years, it allowed Tecres to engage with other outstanding companies and institutions in the region and to create synergies in both the business and scientific sphere. For the company, the project is designed to bear fruit in the years to come: Tecres has already witnessed the implementation of systems such as MES (Manufacturing Execution System), which today governs the production processes of the medical and mechanical areas; Neptune, the application for radio frequency management in the warehouse, and a number of important communication interfaces between SAP and the vertical warehouse. Together, these solutions will allow Tecres to organise its logistics even more efficiently, both in an ordinary business context and when business continuity risks being faced with difficulties in unpredictable crisis phases.
The RIVELO drive for research and innovation does not stop here, and Tecres will once again be among the pioneering companies: a new project is currently being defined, focusing on sustainability, transparency and collaboration along the supply chain and the implementation of smart technologies and digitalisation able to facilitate the task of those working in logistics. The optimisation of a number of processes – sales automation, for example, which reduces the risk of human error in order and transaction management processes, guaranteeing greater precision and reliability – will enable a further improvement in company performance in terms of sustainability, safety, respect for people and compliance with governance regulations.
